“Monster Hunter” Review

| Amazon

Directed by Paul W.S. Anderson. With Milla Jovovich, Tony Jaa, Ron Perlman, T.I.. When Lt. Artemis and her loyal soldiers are transported to a new world, they engage in a desperate battle for survival against enormous enemies with incredible powers. Feature film based on the video game by Capcom.

This is certainly a movie that was released, and it was definitely based on a video game franchise. I’m not intimately familiar with the gaming franchise, but what I do know is that you play a character that hunts monsters. This movie has monsters, and there’s plenty of shootin’ and hackin’, but something about the entire thing felts overwrought and under thought out, as no bullet seemed to harm any of the creatures in the film, but blades made from jawbones could cleave their heads in half.

That’s really my only complaint though, it’s exactly what the trailers says it’s going to be, which I appreciate the honesty. It’s a pretty, mindless film that ended up being fun to watch if you turn off your brains.
