“Reality” Review

Reality: Directed by Tina Satter. With Sydney Sweeney, Josh Hamilton, Marchánt Davis, Benny Elledge. A former American intelligence specialist was given the longest sentence for the unauthorized release of government information to the media about Russian interference in the 2016 United States elections via an email operation.

Surprising to me: this is a verbatim script from the initial interview with the FBI and Reality Winner, a heroic whistle blower that in 2017 sent information to The Intercept about Russian interference in the 2016 election that at the time was considered classified. Turns out that the information wouldn’t be classified for very long with many congress critters sharing the same information right after her arrest. She ended up serving over 4 years for her patriotic act, the longest that anyone has ever served for this type of crime. The newspaper that she sent the paper to was the reason that she was ultimately arrested due to their completely unprofessional and incompetent handling of the leak, but they’ve not suffered much publicly from this incredible misstep.

Not surprising to me: Sydney Sweeney. For a woman that came to prominence in a row showing off her body and playing a blonde bombshell teenager, she’s really shown in several roles in the last few years that she’s a serious and capable actress and she’s now at the top of the list of actresses I’d watch them in nearly anything.
