“Hellraiser Judgment” Review

Hellraiser: Judgment: Directed by Gary J. Tunnicliffe. With Damon Carney, Randy Wayne, Alexandra Harris, Heather Langenkamp. Detectives Sean and David Carter are on the case to find a gruesome serial killer terrorizing the city. Joining forces with Detective Christine Egerton, they dig deeper into a spiraling maze of horror that may not be of this world.

A film that reminds me a lot of house of a thousand corpses, but… better? Am I actually saying that? This is infinitely better than the last film, at least on the pure gore and horror aspects, and definitely on the cinematography side of things. As for how messed up the movie is, here’s a couple examples: A horribly fat man eats paperwork, then three demon girls sort through vomit to determine guilt, then get the guilty’s blood is sprayed all over them. There’s also a missing dog situation that really blew my mind that they went where they went with it, but I applaud them for following through with the whole thing. Ends up being nearly straight up torture porn, but this franchise has always been about that type of content.

This is also the real first time that they mentioned the group of other worldly entities that were keeping the cenobites in their own little corner of hell. I’m not sure if they’re saying it’s an angel or a higher power demon, but building out that mythology would be cool to hear about, because I’m officially done with the franchise.
