“Willy’s Wonderland” Review

| Amazon

Directed by Kevin Lewis. With Nicolas Cage, Emily Tosta, Beth Grant, Ric Reitz. A quiet drifter is tricked into a janitorial job at the now condemned Willy’s Wonderland. The mundane tasks suddenly become an all-out fight for survival against wave after wave of demonic animatronics. Fists fly, kicks land, titans clash — and only one side will make it out alive.

Obviously I know Nicolas Cage, but Emily Tosta seems familiar to me, but I can’t figure out where I know her from. Caylee Cowan is also very familiar, but less because of her acting and more because she is pretty liberal with her selfie photos on the internet. Regardless, there’s familiar faces here and they’re all fantastic.

‘Willy’s Wonderland’ is a great schlocky film with low budgets, low expectations, and amazing delivery of everything you could want from the film. At one point, Cage gets cut by a machine, goes to wipe the blood away, but it’s caked on makeup, so it doesn’t dab away, it’s great. There’s something going on with “punch pop”, a pinball machine, and Cage’s voice but I don’t want to talk about any of that, lest you get the surprise spoiled.

On that subject, half the film is just Nicolas Cage cleaning a busted down restaurant, which made me wonder: could I watch an entire movie of Nick Cage cleaning?

I think I could, yes.
