“The Jungle Book” Review

| Amazon

Directed by Jon Favreau. With Neel Sethi, Bill Murray, Ben Kingsley, Idris Elba. After a threat from the tiger Shere Khan forces him to flee the jungle, a man-cub named Mowgli embarks on a journey of self discovery with the help of panther Bagheera and free-spirited bear Baloo.

Not necessarily a remake of the animated version that came out 50 years prior, this is practically a brand new story that just happens to share elements of the previous version, including the songs that we all knew and loved. Not surprisingly, the racism from the original version is left in the 1950’s and the story gets some much needed backfill. There’s some very good HDR in the film that I noticed at the same time I saw some video artifacts, so thanks for that roku! I have to remember that if I’m streaming from Disney+ the best device to do that on is an xbox one.
