International Game Technology (IGT) evokes the journey to Pandora with the launch of its latest MegaJackpots® game series, Twentieth Century Fox’s AVATAR™. The leading casino technology pioneers have partnered with Twentieth Century Fox Consumer Products to paint the gaming world blue with the debut of two AVATAR games at the Global Gaming Expo (G2E) 2013 in Las Vegas, Sept. 24-26: James Cameron’s AVATAR™ Video Slots and James Cameron’s AVATAR™ Treasures of Pandora.

Inspired by the highest-grossing film of all time, James Cameron’s AVATAR™, IGT’s newest high-impact game series allows players to relive the magic of one of the most acclaimed movies of our time and experience the immersive, thrilling game content that players have grown to expect from IGT.

“It was an absolute honor to collaborate with the extremely talented people at Fox Consumer Products and Lightstorm Entertainment to design and develop these games,” said Darrell Rodriguez, IGT Chief Creative Officer. “We created two games that capture the innovative spirit of IGT, while also reflecting the attention to detail and breathtaking beauty that James Cameron fans would expect. As a director, he has changed the way people think about movies. We create our games to change the way people think about slot machines.”

Housed on IGT’s Center Stage® platform and boasting jaw-dropping visuals and impressive surround-sound audio, James Cameron’s AVATAR™ Video Slots promise to turn heads on casino floors. In this captivating gaming experience, players are put right in the middle of the struggles between humans and the Na’vi. With unlocked content, customizable options and never before seen bonuses, players will feel as though they have taken flight among the Na’vi warriors.

Players will soar with the banshees high above the glowing, luminescent rainforest of Pandora all while seeking “Banshee Wilds,” and pursuing an “Arrow Boost,” payout multiplier. This is the first IGT game that enables players to track their progress and achieve additional game content as they advance to new player levels. Bonuses include thematic content based on the blockbuster film including The Hunt to search the forests for more credits, Take Flight with a banshee to tame, and the Warrior Free Games where players choose which warrior they want to root for as they strive to collect enough symbols to garner a prize.

IGT will also shine a blue spotlight on James Cameron’s AVATAR™ Treasures of Pandora. Debuting on IGT’s groundbreaking Crystal Core™ Cabinet, Treasures of Pandora is a true visual spectacular. Featuring immaculate, 3D visuals on a 42″ vertical screen, Treasures of Pandora shines among competitors. A follow-up release to AVATAR Video Slots, this wide-area progressive video slot features two vertically stacked base games. Upon max bet wager, the “merging feature” may be activated, combining the two base games and creating an industry-first 7,776 ways to win. Treasures of Pandora truly allows players to explore the phenomenal beauty of Pandora. Fans of the film will recognize the imaginative flora and fauna from the movie while playing for big wins and lively bonuses. IGT is also excited to present a dynamic player button panel, a new game function that offers a more hands-on player experience. The large, full color touch screen of the Crystal Core™ allows for a superbly interactive experience during bonuses.

I don’t remember gambling being a large part of the Avatar storyline, was there a scene that I missed where Jake showed the blue aliens the wonders of the one arm bandit?

James Cameron’s AVATAR™ Video Slots and James Cameron’s AVATAR™ Treasures of Pandora join IGT’s already successful MegaJackpots® series. Since MegaJackpots® launched in 1986, IGT has created more than 1,500 millionaires and paid out nearly $6 billion in jackpot winnings.

The first one, a Rebel Snowspeeder SNES and the other, a TIE Fighter Nintendo 64.

I’m looking forward to the movie, the game, not so much.

tronavatar530 Tron: Evolution Avatar items drop this Thursday

Tron: Evolution Avatar gear will hit the Xbox Live marketplace this Thursday, November 25

Looks like it’s the standard collection of Avatar crap, ranging from goofy outfits to goofy props.  The premium theme looks nice though.  I think I’d be much more excited about these things if they weren’t blatantly overpriced crap that you can’t see anywhere outside of the XBL environment.

goldenreview 500x301 Goldeneye 007 review

Activision had an interesting balancing act on its hands with Goldeneye. It knew that this was a nostalgia title for the Nintendo 64 crowd, yet it had to be wary of “copying” anything from the Rare-developed 1997 title of the same name for legal reasons. So the company goes back to the source material the film, that is, replaces Pierce Brosnan with Daniel Craig, and builds an entirely new game — yet all the while hoping it rides its name recognition right off the shelves. “Somebody’s remaking Goldeneye! Remember Goldeneye? Goldeneye!”

Well shit, that just about kills the game for me, I was under the impression is was a straight up remake of the original, but with new features and other cool new stuff.  Perhaps this will be just as good as the original game?
