No fans can put a smile on our faces the way Star Wars fans can. It’s true, only the geekiest of fans will put one and one together, in this case, it’s Kevin “CorellianCustoms” Glenn who created two custom console mods. The first one, a Rebel Snowspeeder SNES and the other, a TIE Fighter Nintendo 64.

Developed by Saber Interactive and powered by the Saber 3D Engine, Battle: Los Angeles is a high-end fast and frantic first-person shooter game that will take players through a single player campaign that mirrors the upcoming feature film. Players will assume the role of a Marine fighting against a worldwide alien invasion that has the city of Los Angeles as the major battleground and focal point for the game. Players will battle unique and varied enemies using an arsenal of weapons throughout the game like an assault rifle, sniper rifle, rocket launcher, frag grenades, and a turret gun as they navigate the streets of Los Angeles avoiding fierce and relentless attacks. Aside from high-caliber fire fighting combat, destructible environments have been included using the Havok Destruction Module which will allow players to destroy scaffolding structures, vehicles and overpasses to eliminate enemy forces. With unlockable content, trophy support, and 5.1 surround sound, Battle: Los Angeles will pull players deep into the heart of the battle to save mankind.

I’m looking forward to the movie, the game, not so much.

Tron: Evolution Avatar gear will hit the Xbox Live marketplace this Thursday, November 25

Looks like it’s the standard collection of Avatar crap, ranging from goofy outfits to goofy props.  The premium theme looks nice though.  I think I’d be much more excited about these things if they weren’t blatantly overpriced crap that you can’t see anywhere outside of the XBL environment.

Like most good things in life, the next Pirates of the Caribbean game will be made out of Legos.Lego Pirates of the Caribbean: The Video Game will arrive in May 2011 for damn near every platform Wii, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, DS, PSP and PC, Disney Interactive Studios and TT Games said Thursday. Disney will release the game alongside the upcoming fourth installment of the film series, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.

The Lego gaming avalanche is still picking up all sorts of interesting properties, and oddly enough, each one of them fit very well with each other.

Also, if you needed a stirring reminder of how much a Nintendo 64 game can age over the years, Goldeneye 64 is perhaps the pinnacle among available examples

From the side by side comparison, I take back my earlier concerns, this is downright nostalgia heaven.  I think I spent more hours playing this on a friend’s N64 then I did worrying about girls.

And this was in high school.
