Quorra 01 500x745 TRON: Quorra Costume

The costume is made from faux leather and EL Film strips. The luminescent panels are removable, velcored onto the leather vest in order to make the top washable. To be frank, the cutting and re-soldering the EL film was quite tricky to work with but I think I managed to the tame the beast with the help of conductive fabric tape. I will write up a tutorial on how to work with the EL film in the next three weeks for those folks who are interested. Meanwhile… here are the rest of the pics.

How is it that this ‘fan made’ suit looks so much better than one of the officially licensed ones?  I’m really digging those lights, and she mentions that they’re removable on her version, so maybe you could buy the ‘official’ ones and slap some of that EL Film on them to make them totally bad ass.  More pictures of the FT link.

car tk6744 02 500x375 Stormtrooper Car

I have been a member (TK-6744) of the 501st Legion / Empire City Garrison for just over two years. Around the same time I joined, I bought the white Dodge Stratus, and I have wanted to Stormtrooperfy it since I bought it.

I was thinking about how… cool… it would be to drive around in something like this, and I gotta be honest, I don’t think I could handle the attention that this would bring.

atatcake 500x333 Star Wars AT AT Cake and ewok cupcakes

The bride, Rebecca  Dudeiros, says that this cake wasn’t even made in a bakery…she had her buddy (a pastry chef herself though) Teresa Ulrich do it custom for her.

They have a few close ups on the source page, but none of the ridiculously cute ewok cupcakes.  I wonder how it tasted?

vader prop Original Darth Vader costume up for sale in London

Christie’s auction house says it is selling an original Darth Vader costume from the “Star Wars” movie franchise.

The jet-black helmet, mask and armor worn by the intergalactic villain are expected to sell for between 160,000 pounds and 230,000 pounds ($250,000 and $365,000) at a sale of pop culture memorabilia next month.

That’s one expensive prop set right there.  From what I hear the guy that wore is was exactly as tall as I am…hmmm

batpod ps pod replica road motorcycle 19 500x333 Chopper Citys street legal BatPod replica

This fully custom 850cc Batpod replica takes all those traits to the max – it looks downright scary to ride, there’s almost no way to turn a corner with any sort of dignity, and may God help you if you want to pull a U-Turn. But for owner Pankaj Shah it’s a tribute to his love of the Dark Knight movie where the BatPod first appeared – and beyond the neck-snapping appearance of the thing, it’s also quite an amazing bit of rolling metalwork. Click through for several videos and photos of the PS-Pod under construction.

This isn’t the bike that we need, but it’s the bike that we deserve.  They have a ton of photos of the bike’s construction and a couple youtube videos (in glorious 720p!) of the bike in action.  I like it, but good grief, 850cc?  Think they may be compensating for anything?

aston martin custom bond James Bonds Goldfinger Aston Martin Sells For $4.1 Million

Just to show that the yucky economy hasn’t stopped some people from whipping out their wallets, the tricked-out Aston Martin from the James Bond films Goldfinger and Thunderball was auctioned off yesterday in London for a cool $4.1 million.

Apparently it has operational gadgets on it too: “ejector seat, machine guns, rotating license plates, bullet-proof shield, tracking device, removable roof panel, oil slick sprayer, nail spreader and smoke screen” via The Consumerist.

tumbler 0 500x280 Home built Batman Begins Batmobile

RM Auctions recently declared James Bond’s Aston Martin DB5 to be “the world’s most famous car,” but there’s no doubt another contender for that title – the Batmobile. One thing that muddies the waters a bit is the fact that the term “Batmobile” actually describes at least three different vehicles: the modified Lincoln Futura concept car from the 60s TV series, the vaguely Corvette-shaped 1989-and-beyond movie cars and now the car from the most recent two movies, the military-spec Tumbler. Michigan-based movie props artist Bob Dullam really likes the Tumbler, so he did what any of us would do in his position – he built one of his own from scratch.

tumbler 8 500x374 Home built Batman Begins Batmobile

My inner geek is having a fucking melt down right now.  They’re lumping the beautiful Batman / Batman Returns batmobile with the abortions from Batman Forever and Batman and Robin?  And they’re saying that no one would recognize any of the batmobiles from the comic books?

That being said, I LIKE the tumbler, but it’s never been actually called “the batmobile” in any of the films.

I’d still like to take it out for a spin though!
